Nishi is a NYC-based Indian American Singer/Songwriter & Actress. Hailing from the South Indian state of Kerela, India and born in New Delhi, Nishi & her family moved to New York when she was just 5 years old where she has lived ever since. As a singer & songwriter, she has sung and danced since she was a child, wrote her first songs and poems at the age of 9 and at the age of 18, began performing on stage. At 22, deeply intellectual & passionate about human rights, she put aside her musical aspirations for the pursuit of law. Nishi is now a lawyer in NYC practicing personal injury defense litigation & is also a human rights lawyer, who launched her own non-profit foundation, Leading Light.

As much as she loved law, however, Nishi was not complete without devoting herself to music, writing & entertainment. In 2004, she met with independent producers to release her first EP which came out in late-2005. From 2005-2009, Nishi performed through NYC with various bands & in acoustic sets, worked with various other producers and now is back in the Studio with Nightlife Productions & Entertainment with top producer Sean Gill of the Passengerz working on a brand new album & brand new dance singles for release in 2010.

Nishi is also a professional actress in NYC who performs on stage & film. She currently performs with the Galli Theater in musicals for which she has written the musical scores. Nishi studied acting professionally in NYC with HB Studio.
    With the voice of an angel and beauty to match, Nishi is set to bring her own unique blend of Indo-Pop to America; but, she is quick to tell you that Indian music isn't what she's about. Although definitely influenced by her Indian heritage, Nishi's music is a unique blend of Indian rhythm, American Pop, Alternative Rock and Bluesgrass. She attributes her influences to artists such as Loreena McKennitt and Sarah McLachlan, to bands such as Creed and rock influences of the late 80's and early 90's such as Guns n' Roses and Aerosmith. Nishi has written over 200 songs varying in range from love ballads to soul-searching rock songs and many sexy dance numbers.
